Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc and the North Face end collaboration
After organising one of the toughest ultra trail runs for over a decade, the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc ® and The North Face ® have decided not to renew their partnership.
The success of the 2014 edition concluded twelve years of very positive collaboration for both organizations, an official release said on November 12.
"In 12 years of shared adventure, the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc ® and The North Face ® have developed strong links necessary to give the event an international dimension. The UTMB ® continues its path with the same team spirit and sharing that it has shown since the beginning," said Catherine Poletti of UTMB.
The UTMB is an annual, single-stage mountain ultra-marathon that takes place in the Alps across France, Italy and Switzerland. The distance is roughly 166 km, with a total elevation gain of around 9,600 m. It is billed as as one of the most difficult foot races in Europe. It is certainly one of the largest with over two thousand starters.
