Indian mountaineer takes newbies on an alpine style expedition
Indian mountaineer Arjun Vajpai is taking ten non-climbers on an alpine style expedition to scale CB 13 (6264m) in Lahaul valley in north India this week.
Indian mountaineer and Everest summiteer Arjun Vajpai is leading a 12-day alpine style mountaineering expedition to scale CB 13 (6264 M), one of the peaks of the Chandra Bhaga range in Lahaul valley in north India.
The 12-day expedition begins on 10 July, taking ten non-climbers who will be trained under Arjun.
"The mission is to teach a group of ordinary people how to be a self-sustaining individuals in any field, which is alpine style exploration in contrast to the traditional porter-aided expeditions," said Arjun in a press release.
The participants will be trained in certain critical aspects of mountaineering, outdoor responsibilities, ice craft and search and rescue.
Arjun Vajpai made his third attempt to summit Makalu (8485m) last April, but the earthquake in Nepal stubbed his attempt.
